is a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  Following graduation, he served as an officer in the United States Navy and then enrolled in and graduated from Fordham Law School.  Mr. Walker served as a Legal Assistant to the Honorable Edward Thompson, Administrative Judge of the Civil Court of the City of New York.  He then became associated with Anthony L. Schiavetti, Esq., the in-house law firm for Employers Insurance of Wausau, in New York City.  With that office, Mr. Walker specialized in the defense of medical malpractice cases.  In 1979, he joined Alexander Peltz.

Mr. Walker has tried in excess of 125 cases to verdict in the New York state and the federal district courts.  The subject matters of these cases are varied and they include the following areas of medicine: orthopedic surgery, including joint replacements, infections, amputations and pulmonary embolism; neurosurgery; diagnostic and interventional radiology; obstetrics and gynecology; plastic surgery, both reconstructive and cosmetic; ophthalmology; cancer diagnosis; general surgery; urology; etc.  He also represents physicians in issues involving the Office of Professional Medical Conduct (“OPMC”).  This area of practice involves inquiry by the State into a physician’s professional conduct, and can lead to proceedings at which the State considers whether such conduct warrants suspension or revocation of the physician’s license to practice medicine.

Mr. Walker has lectured before medical groups and hospitals at risk management and is the author of a series of monographs (entitled “Malpractice Notebook”) on how physicians should prepare for litigation.  He is a faculty lecturer at the Hospital for Special Surgery Annual Knee Symposium and Hospital for Special Surgery Alumni Spine Symposium and has also lectured at Volunteer Attending Physicians educational seminars.  Mr. Walker is the President of the New York State Medical Defense Association.  He was also selected as a New York Super Lawyer in 2010 and 2011, a selection process that involves peer nominations, panel reviews and independent research of candidates.

Mr. Walker is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Military Appeals.  He has an “AV” rating in Martindale-Hubbell Law Dictionary .
