If you’re a physician and you render medical care to your own family, you had better be careful. First of all, the state would like you not to render medical care to your own family. They would rather have somebody who’s independent do it, another doctor who is not encumbered by the family relationship. If you do do it, and prescribe medication, bare in mind these people, your family members, now become your patients, so you must have a proper and complete medical record.

You must show the history, the examination, the diagnosis, and the treatment. If you fail to do this, the state will decide that you have kept improper medical records, and it will not help you that it’s your family. Also, your family really should be seen by independent, outside people. Remember, if you do it, keep the record, because they are just patients, not family.
