If you have an allegation of domestic violence against you as a physician or a nurse or any other type of medical provider, that is probably going to end up with the Department of Health or the Department of Education. They’re going to investigate you. You want to avoid this at all possible, but sometimes it’s difficult. It arises out of a domestic situation, and sometimes your domestic partner deliberately wants to hurt your reputation and your professional standing.
The best thing to do is to try to get out of this situation as fast as you can. Bear in mind that you might have to come and talk about it in front of the Department of Health or the Department of Education. Do not do anything to make it worse. Do everything you can to minimize the issues that are going to be put in front of the Department of Health or the Department of Education. These allegations are serious, and they can have long-term and adverse impacts on your license.
